What to do with an Inside-Out Egg?

Inside-out Egg

I found these at our Farmer’s Market last weekend. What a trip! The farmer said it is an heirloom breed of chicken that he’s in the process of re-establishing as a breeding flock, but had just a few eggs to sell. So far I’ve eaten a couple just soft-boiled like this, on toast. The taste is perfectly normal, except, well, inside out. Anyone have any better ideas of how to really showcase this unique find?

Ok, I admit it… here’s the truth about the egg! Use the share links below and see if you can fool your friends.

  1. i am a fan of the wow factor, but nothing else… my fave part is a runny yolk, but i HATE runny whites. soft whites, yes, but runny? absolutely not.

i would soft poach it like this, then put it over a baby greens salad w/ crispy onion rings, bacon lardons, and a bacon vinaigrette. YUMMY! 🙂

  2. This are unborn eggs.
It’s best to fry them with livers and onion, some salt and pepper and that’s all. Try it you’ll love it.

  3. I LOVE LOVE eggs, but for some reason, I feel queasy looking at them with the textures reversed. Isn’t that weird? It must be that the only thing that keeps them from crossing my inner six-year-old’s mental line to gross must be the familiarity, but then seeing them out of context totally messes with that. This is what is so fun about experimental cooking – when it forces you to look at something familiar anew…

  4. un born? how would that work? If the eggs we eat are born then we would be eating chicks. if you mean that they havn’t come out of the chicken yet, well then we’d see a chicken in the picture

  5. Actually there is such a thing as unborn eggs.. they are eggs that are taken out of the chicken before they are laid.

  6. hey, did you guys know that the word ‘gullible’ isn’t in the dictionary?! look it up!

  7. Common sense….spin the egg and the yolk breaks.
Boil or cook normal. Its not a special breed of chickens, just a prank.

  8. HAHAHA it’s not even that!!! mango with coconut cream, if you read the description you would have known that. Not a real egg lol, molded in easter eggs!
