Cook From The Book and Win A Huge Calphalon Set – Contest

Win me?

My whole dream with the cookbook is that it is one people will use on a regular basis. I wanted to share recipes with you that are manageable to make, and delicious enough to keep making. So I get really excited when people write back to tell me what they’ve made and how they liked it.

I thought it would be fun to turn that into a contest. All you have to do is cook something, anything, from my book and take a picture of it. Then jump over to the Contests tab on my facebook page and follow the steps to upload your photo. This is not a photography contest, so don’t worry about taking a beautiful photo. There will be voting for which dish people would most like to try, not which is the technically best picture, and then I’ll pick the winner at random from the top 10 vote getters.

I think the winner is going to be really happy, because Calphalon has offered to sponsor the contest and provide one heck of a nice prize: an 8 piece Unison non-stick cookware set (2 sizes of omelette pan, a saucepan, a saute pan, and a stock pot, plus all the lids) and a 7 piece nylon and wooden utensil set suitable for use in the non-stick pots.

Here’s the contest timeline:

Today thru June 4, 2012 (at midnight PDT) – entries accepted
June 4 – June 11 – public voting
June 12 – winner chose at random from among the top 10 vote getters

So get out there and cook a recipe from the book and enter the contest, then ask all of your friends to vote for your entry! Let’s make this fun and best of luck to everyone. I can’t wait to see what you make!

Michael, it was great meeting you in LA:) Your book is gorgeous and there are a lot of recipes that appeal to me (you are a wonderful photographer, too:) I don’t need a carrot at the end of the stick to make one of those dishes, but does not like Calphalon?
Looking forward to participating in your contest:)

Apparently we live not only in food desert, but in a mail dessert too as the book has not arrived yet! I went to a bookstore (they have only one here) to check if they have your book… You guessed it right, they don’t. I hope to receive the book this week and start cooking! :)

Aw, I just made Chana Masala with Mushrooms and Five-Minute Indian-Style Cabbage. Delicious — but I didn’t take any pictures. Anyway, wouldn’t it be a conflict of interest for me to enter?

Haha, yeah, Jane I don’t think you are eligible! (Jane was one of the editors of the book :)

Oh maaan! I just did the delicious Savoury Bread Pudding with Morels and took great photos, but I just checked the book and it doesn’t seem to be in it! :( I don’t supposed an exception could be made?

Anyway, it’s a really great book. I’m going to have a fun year doing as many of the recipes as possible.

I have to get in on this contest! I’m planning to make the spicy tamarind glazed potatoes! I’m drooling just thinking about it… maybe I’ll make it now : )

I got your cookbook last week, and so far, everything is really delicious. You seem to get a lot of umami from vegetables. I loved the chili that I made today, so I’ll probably enter the contest with that. The Szechuan dish was really good. However, I have been to 5 Oriental grocery stores, and I haven’t found the Szechuan vegies. Could you specifiy a brand or a store where I can find them? Even Uwajimaya didn’t seem to have them. Other than that, it’s been fun to cook from a vegetarian cookbook that strives for good flavor. Keep up the good work.

Hey Gail – this contest is already over; sorry about that. I’m almost positive that Uwajimaya has the Szechwan Preserved Vegetable because that is where I end up shopping for my Asian groceries 90% of the time. Here’s an Amazon link you could order it from, but it also shows you what the can looks like (not usually in German, but the colors are right) which might make it easier to spot if the employees can’t find it for you: link to amazon.com . I’m so glad you are enjoying the cookbook and please let me know if any other questions come up.

      Thanks,
      Michael
